Snowpeak MAT300, an entry level PCP air rifle for approaching target shooting without breaking the bank

Target shooting, as we know, is a sport where results depend equally on the skill of the athlete and the efficiency and accuracy of the equipment. This is why even a seemingly inexpensive discipline such as 10 meter air rifle shooting can turn out to be extremely expensive. The sums required to purchase a premium-grade target shooting rifle can be surprisingly high and can frighten off the neophyte approaching the shooting range for the first time.

Fortunately, there are also (a few) guns defined as "entry level" which, despite being reasonably priced, offer the budding shooter all the features and equipment necessary to take his/her first steps in 10 meter air rifle shooting  and to gain the first success in competition. It is then up to the shooter to decide whether and when to take the plunge and invest in a top-level rifle.

Snowpeak MAT300 PCP air rifle in 4.5 mm caliber

The Snowpeak MAT300 is a reasonably priced entry-level PCP air rifle in 4.5 mm caliber. It delivers a bullet power of less than 7.5 joules and, thanks to its low weight and multitude of adjustment options, it is particularly suitable for younger shooters.

The multi-colored laminated wood stock is universal and the cocking lever can be swappe from one side of the receiver to the other to make the rifle easy to use for both left- and right-handed shooters. The power regulator ensures that successive shots produce the same amount of energy, and thus maintain the point of impact on the target, as long as the air pressure in the reservoir (with a capacity of 200 CC and a working pressure of 250 Bar) is adequate.
Snowpeak has fitted its MAT300 rifle with a multi-adjustable match trigger, whose trigger weight can be adjusted from 30 to 200 grams. The sights are each mounted on an 11-mm dovetailed rail, through which they can be moved or removed.

The laminated wood stock can be adjusted in many ways to tailor the rifle to the shooter's needs. The butt plate can be canted, elevated and lowered or pulled out to adjust the length of pull (LOP) by up to 2 cm.
For an even better fit, the cheek piece can be adjusted in height by up to 4 cm. The Snowpeak MAT300 rifle is sold at 990 euro (incl. VAT) with carrying case and sights.
