New for 2016 in the M&P-15 rifles line from Smith & Wesson is the M&P-15 Sport II centerfire modern sporting rifle, chambered for the 5,56x45mm/.223 Remington caliber and patterned after the ever-popular AR-15 design. Engineered for a wide variety of recreational, sport shooting and professional applications, the M&P-15 Sport II is built around a 7075-T6 aluminum forged upper and lower receiver and sports a 16-inch long, 4140 steel with a 1:9” twist rate and a standard A2-style flash hider. Other features conceived for added longevity include a durable corrosion resistant Armornite finish and a chrome-lined bolt carrier, gas key and firing pin.
The M&P-15 Sport II semi-automatic rifle from Smith & Wesson comes with an adjustable A2-style post front sight and an adjustable MagPul MBUS folding rear sight, as well as with a six-position telescopic butt stock and a 30-round MagPul PMAG magazine. The retail price has been set at $739.00 in the United States.
