Introducing the SIG Sauer MCX-Regulator, the latest expansion to the already wide and varied MCX rifle family. The new variant is explicitly described by the manufacturer as a “ranch rifle”, that is a compact and lightweight rifle chambered in an intermediate caliber designed for various tasks, including killing wild game, pests, and predators at ranges up to around 300 yards. Among the distinctive features of the SIG Sauer MCX-Regulator, a Magpul SGA Mossberg 500/590 traditional stock in place of the pistol grip seen on other MCX models: this gives a nod to customers from U.S. states where pistol grips are not allowed by law.
SIG Sauer MCX-Regulator, available in 7.62x39 and 5.56 calibers
The newest addition to the MCX family is available in 7.62x39 and 5.56 calibers and combines the upper receiver of the MCX SPEAR-LT and a short stroke gas piston system with a newly designed lower receiver, trigger and stock – as mentioned above. More specifically, the lower receiver is compatible with all MCX upper receivers, while magazine release, safety selector, and bolt catch are fully ambidextrous.
Trigger is a two-stage match type. Stock has a Gen II NiR FDE Cerakote finish for reduced IR signature. The cold hammer-forged carbon steel barrel is 16”/406 mm long, ending in a SIG designed muzzle brake. A built-in Arca rail allows for easy tripod mounting. The alloy forend has M-LOK accessory slots. The polymer 10-round magazine is AR-15 type (a steel magazine is also available).
The MCX-Regulator is optics-ready out-of-the box, but you can also have it with a factory installed mil-spec, full shroud ROMEO2 red dot. The optic has all the features you can expect from a modern reflex sight, including molded glass aspheric lens with high-performance coatings, D.A.R.C. (Dark Adaptive Reticles and Coatings) technology to provide ideal reticle brightness and target clarity during the day or under night vision, MOTAC (motion-activated illumination system) that automatically turns the optic off when not in use and automatically turns it back on when it detects motion. The side battery tray with push-button release allows a battery change without the need to remove the optic from the firearm.
SIG Sauer does not states an MSRP, but prices should be in the $3,000 region, $500 more for the version with a factory-fitted ROMEO2.
