One thing just to come straight to the point: the Savage Arms M110 High Country was tested live at the Industry Day at the Range. It quickly became clear to our colleague Stefan Perey that this new bolt-action rifle was one of his personal highlights of this event in 2019.
Savage Arms is now based in Westfield, Massachusetts and part of the large Vista Outdoors group. The new 110 High Country model with fluted bolt, fluted barrel and TrueTimber Strata synthetic stock with overmold surfaces, as well as PVD hard-coated metal parts, immediately catches the eye. This shapely, modern bolt-action rifle for long range use with AccuFit system to customize the stock according to the body/preferences of the individual shooter and user-adjustable AccuTrigger, is offered in two barrel lengths, 22 in / 560 mm or 24 in / 610 mm. Depending on the caliber, the detachable box magazine holds 2, 3 or 4 cartridges.
The caliber options include: .243 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor (both 22”, 4 + 1 rounds), 6.5. PRC (22", 3 + 1 rounds), .270 Win., .280 Ackley Improved, 7 mm-08 Rem. (all 22", 4 + 1 cartridges), 7 mm Rem. Mag. (24", 3 + 1 cartridges), .308 Win, .30-06 Sprg. (22 ", 4 + 1 cartridges), .300 Win. Mag. (24", 3 + 1 rounds) and .300 WSM (24", 2 + 1 rounds).
Exclusively for Europe: Savage Arms 110 Tactical Hunter
Exclusively for the European market, the Savage Model 110 Tactical Hunter is available in 6.5mm Creedmoor or .308 Winchester. This compact bolt-action rifle is a true all-rounder for the shooting range and hunting. The black synthetic stock is fitted with a 110mm action with a heavy-duty 20 in/ 510 mm "Medium-Contour Heavy Barrel" in .308 Winchester (1:10" twist) or a 22 in/ 560 mm barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor (1:8" twist). On the top of the action sits a continuous optics mounting rail and the muzzle is threaded with muzzle cap, so that nothing stands in the way of a later upgrade with a silencer.
Further practical features include an AccuTrigger trigger system (trigger pull adjustable from 680 to 2,700 g), an extra-large bolt handle and two box magazines with a capacity of 4 cartridges included in the package.
The A Series Pro Varmint range of sleek semi-automatic rifles in rimfire calibers such as the .22 Long Rifle, .17 HMR or .22 Winchester Magnum is certainly also of interest for vermin hunting and other sports shooting activities. In the more powerful .17 HMR and .22 WMR calibers, the rifles with Boyds Pro Varmint plastic stock and heavy 22 in / 560 mm barrel have a delayed blowback action. In the classic .22 LR small caliber they feature a simple blowback system.
Additional features: adjustable AccuTrigger trigger, box magazine in Ruger 10/22-style for 10 cartridges, continuous optics mounting rail and muzzle thread with cap (only in .22 LR).
Modern Savage Rifle (MSR) – Features of the AR-10/AR-15 semi-automatic rifle range
The factory-fitted AR-10/AR-15 "Modern Savage Rifle" (MSR) semi-automatic rifle range was one of the highlights of the SHOT Show 2017 and has been consistently expanded ever since. For example, the new MSR 15 Competition and MSR 10 Precision models, with their down-to-the-smallest-detail competition features.
The Savage Arms MSR 15 Competition in .223 Remington or in the young, hot .224 Valkyrie has a 18 in/ 457 mm carbon fiber wrapped stainless barrel by Proof Research (1:8" twist in .223 Rem / 1:7"- Twist in .224 Valkyrie) with muzzle brake and adjustable gas block. Other features such as the coated bolt carrier for best functional properties, match trigger, custom hand guard, Magpul CTR buttstock and improved controls round off this rifle.
The Savage Arms MSR 10 Precision in .308 Winchester and 6mm and 6.5mm Creedmoor features a heavy duty 22.5 "/ 570 mm stainless steel heavy barrel wrapped in a 18 in / 457mm Acra handguard. Other features include an adjustable Magpul PRS stock and a TangoDown "Battlegrip Flip Grip" that can be rake-adjusted. A unique feature is also the non-reciprocating side-charging handle. Of course, an adjustable match trigger and gas block are also standard features of this competition semi-auto.
The Axis and Axis II rifle ranges have been improved in detail and feature, for example, modified stocks with improved ergonomic handling characteristics. In addition, several rifle series (e.g. 110 Apex XP, Rascal Target XP) were expanded with complete packages including already-mounted riflescopes.
