SIG Sauer is presenting a wide range of defence products at Eurosatory 2024 in Paris (17 to 21 June 2024). After all, the successful NGSW (Next Generation Squad Weapon) package, which the US Army purchased from SIG Sauer two years ago in a 10-year contract, means that procurers from other armies will also be keen to take a closer look at the various modules – what the Americans have chosen after a rigorous two-year selection process and against numerous renowned candidates is ultimately considered a recommendation, even though experience has shown that each nation orders its own additional features to give the new military and law enforcement weapons a personalised touch.

The Eurosatory event, which was first held in 1967, takes place every two years in collaboration with the French Ministry of Defence and takes its name from the former garrison district of Satory in Versailles. Today, the Villepinte Parc des Expositions in Paris-Nord offers enough space to accommodate the greatly increased number of exhibitors. And finally, more than 65,000 visitors from over 150 countries are expected. For comparison, the United Nations has 193 members.

SIG Sauer at Eurosatory 2024: all about the NGSW models

In the press release, SIG Sauer, whose main production facility and headquarters are now located in Newington, New Hampshire in the USA, highlights some of the projects and gun families that will be presented in Paris:

XM250 NGSW-AR
As the XM250, the SIG Sauer NGSW-AR machine gun became the winner of the US Army's NGSW procurement programme.
  • The Next Generation Squad Weapons, XM7 and XM250 (NGSW): the US Army chose the SIG Sauer Next Generations Squad Weapons to replace the M4, M4A1 and M249 weapons. In civilian life, the XM7 was previously known as the MCX Spear, while the XM250 was developed from the MG 338.
  • SIG 6.8mm hybrid ammunition: SIG's 6.8mm hybrid ammunition was developed and designed to fill a capability gap and provide an ammunition that requires increased energy on target at range. It will be manufactured by Olin/Winchester.
  • SIG Sauer MCX rifles: According to the manufacturer, the MCX platform was developed as "the best rifle system in the world". The latest development, the MCX Lightweight, will also be exhibited and presented at the SIG Sauer Eurosatory stand.
SIG Sauer MMG 338
The MG 338 from SIG Sauer, a lightweight, medium machine gun developed in 2017 for the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM).
  • SIG Sauer MG 338: A belt-fed, lightweight, medium machine gun in .338 Norma Mag, 7.62 NATO and 6.8 mm NGSW Hybrid. The SIG MG 338 is a man-portable solution for use on the battlefield; it also formed the basis for the development of the XM250, which was also designed for the 6.8 mm hybrid ammunition.
  • Remote Control Weapons Station (RCWS): General Robotics, a SIG Sauer company, is a world leader in the development and manufacture of lightweight remote control weapon stations and tactical robotics for manned and unmanned platforms and anti-drone applications. The RCWS systems and system capabilities demonstrations are also features at the SIG SAUER Eurosatory stand.
