Wilson Combat claims that the latest iteration of the 9mm EDC X9, the EDC X9 2.0, “builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, featuring upgrades that deliver superior performance and reliability without sacrificing the visually striking aesthetics that have won widespread admiration since its debut”. Let's see how.
The key feature of the EDC X9 2.0 is the solid “X-Frame” design, a 15-round high capacity 9mm 1911 frame that is similar in size to a traditional compact, single stack 1911. The X-Frame in fact accepts a high-capacity magazine with a grip that is smaller in circumference than a standard 1911 while retaining traditional 1911 controls.
Wilson Combat machines it from T6-7075 aluminum, while the 15-round, double-column magazine was developed jointly with Mec-Gar. From the earlier single-stack EDC pistols, the new model carries over the slide assembly with Wilson Combat's ERS "Enhanced Reliability System", tailored to the varying power level of 9mm ammunition to guarantee full reliability in all conditions. The Tri-Top slide profile with user-replaceable front sight, single-lug tapered cone match-grade 1911 barrel, rear Tactical Adjustable Battlesight, fluted chamber and rugged, user-serviceable external extractor are also signature details.
The EDC X9 2.0 now also adds customizable, easily interchangeable and more versatile Classic 1911 style grips. These are screw-on grips available in a choice of Black, Gray/Black, Black Cherry options that “help you quickly fine-tune your setup and feel great in hand, striking the perfect balance between comfort and concealability”.
