The 9mm Masada pistol family, introduced by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) some five years back, welcomes a new member, the Masada Slim.
Entering the extremely crowded market of compact and subcompact carry pistols, the claim is that thanks to its a thin profile and compact design, the latest development allows for ease of concealed carry while providing substantial magazine capacity.
Specs are indeed interesting here, since the Masada Slim comes with a reassuring 13-round magazine capacity, a 3.4” stainless steel barrel for a weight of 1.27 lbs without magazine – for comparison, the full size Masada has a 4.1” barrel and weighs 1.43 lb without magazine.
IWI Masada Slim, compact but with the same features of the full-size model
Like her big sister, the Masada Slim is a 9mm polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol featuring a modular, serialized, high-grade steel trigger mechanism housing that can easily be removed for cleaning and maintenance.
Sights on the Masada are composed of a white front dot sight and a blacked-out 2-dot rear sight. Sight cuts are the same on the Masada Slim as on the full-size Masada. The slide also utilizes the RMS Shield optics cut for direct optic mounting options, meaning that you can also mount other devices with the sane footprint such as the Holosun EPS Carry or the SIG Romeo Zero.
Trigger is the increasingly popular flat type, and according to IWI it should also provide a clean and crisp break with a positive reset. A built-in trigger safety prevents unwanted discharges – the pistol will fire only if the trigger is pulled.
Differently from the full-size model which is also offered in flat dark earth and OD green, the Masada Slim polymer frame is only available in black – at least for now.
With two steel 13-round magazines, the IWI Masada Sllim carries a suggested retail price of $450, 30 bucks less that the full size model.
