New from Taurus: Judge Home Defender revolver with .45 Colt / .410 bore dual caliber ability

A shotgun with pistol grip only? An oversized revolver? It's a bird... It's a plane... It's Superman – well, this time it is the new Judge Home Defender, the latest addition to Taurus Judge family. Even if its intended use is pretty well described by the name itself, Taurus stresses that the Judge Home Defender is designed to “cater to the needs of experienced professionals, self-defense advocates and sport shooters alike”.

Technically speaking, the Judge Home Defender is a double action/single action 5-shot revolver featuring a 13”/33 cm barrel and 3”/76 mm cylinder with a dual capacity in .45 Colt and .410 bore. According to Taurus, the long barrel is engineered to elevate .45 Colt terminal ballistics while guaranteeing pinpoint accuracy. A top aluminum Picatinny rail allows for the mounting of optics. Another forward rail on the handguard will accept home defense accessories such as gunlights or lasers. The Judge Home Defender comes standard with mechanical rear and front sights, anyway.

Frame, cylinder and barrel are alloy steel with a matte black finish. The Judge Home Defender also features a rubber grip that cushions recoil and is interchangeable with any aftermarket Judge grips, so that you can select the grip that best fits your defensive use case. A steel blast shield protects your support arm, enhancing safety.

The small overall length of the Judge Home Defender (19.5”, or 49.5 cm) also means great maneuverability in confined spaces typical of home defense. Taurus suggest a retail price of $729.99 for the Judge Home Defender.
