Smith & Wesson releases the SD40 2.0 pistol in .40 S&W

Two-tone finish, compact sized, and at a competitive price of $349: Smith & Wesson adds the SD40 2.0 chambered in .40 S&W to its SD 2.0 series. An evolution of the original SD series introduced in 2010, the SD 2.0 pistols are already available in 9mm (SD9 models). Like its siblings, the latest .40 S&W release is a striker-fired pistol with a two-tone look, featuring a stainless steel satin-finished slide and a black polymer frame.

Smith & Wesson describes the SD40 2.0 as a “do-everything” handgun "built to do it all". An updated trigger and more aggressive slide serrations are the distinctive enhancements of the second generation of SD pistols.

Sights on the Smith & Wesson SD40 2.0
Sights on the Smith & Wesson SD40 2.0 are made up of a two-white dot drift-adjustable rear notch and a white dot fixed front sight.

The new flat-face trigger design offers a smoother take-up, crisp break, and audible reset, which means a more consistent pull for a repeatable experience and improved accuracy.

The deeper serrations on the slide allow for more efficient manipulations during reload. As can be expected from a modern carry handgun, an accessory rail is present on the dust cover.

The SD40 2.0 has the usual trigger safety and no manual safety. Sights include two-white dot drift-adjustable rear notch and a white dot fixed front sight.

According to the manufacturer, all existing SD accessories like holsters, lights, and lasers work with the new SD  2.0 pistols.
