The new Smith & Wesson M&P22 Magnum rimfire pistol in .22 WMR is an internal hammer-fired single-action gun. The flat-faced trigger is light and crisp, with has an audible reset. Besides the aforementioned, impressive 30-round magazine capacity, the M&P22 Magnum also features Tempo gas system technology: a two-part barrel with a front gas port keeps everything locked up until the bullet exits the barrel before cycling the spent casing, giving you a more consistent, reliable, and accurate platform.
New Smith & Wesson M&P22 Magnum: video introduction
“This handgun is all about bringing more,” they say at S&W: “More capacity, more reliability, more consistency, more excitement. With a staggering 30 rounds in the magazine, you can enjoy more time shooting and less time spent reloading. Using the Tempo barrel system, the front gas port keeps everything working as it should – no moving parts until they’re supposed to be moving. With an optics-cut slide, out of the box, you can mount most micro red dots and hit the range.”
Based on the M&P5.7 platform that also uses the same Tempo technology, the M&P22 Magnum has a full-size black polymer grip with enhanced stippling.
Barrel and slide are stainless steel with black Armornite finish. Controls are fully ambidextrous – including the classic thumb safety – with reversible mag release. Barrel is 4.35”/110 mm long.
The flat-face trigger is designed for consistent finger placement, which leads to more accurate and repeatable shooting. While the optics slide cut allows the direct mounting of most of the popular micro red dots, factory sights include a green fiber optic front and a black rear notch.
“The New M&P 22 Magnum will light up the range and quicken your pulse,” they promise.
Meanwhile, the Smith & Wesson M&P22 Magnum pistol has an MSRP in the U.S. of $579 – the price includes two magazines.
