The busy world of EDC polymer-framed micro-compact carry guns welcomes the new 9mm Stance pistol.
Even if the company is best known for its rifles and shotguns, it's not Savage's first handgun – in the early 20th century the 1907 model was one of the two finalists in the US Army trials for a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, losing out only to the legendary Colt 1911. But as Jessica Treglia, Sr. Brand Manager at Savage Arms stresses, ”it has been more than a century since we focused on compact pistols purpose-built for every day carry.”
Described as “a thin, easily concealable pistol that is built to be both functional in the hand as it is easy to conceal”, the Stance follows modern trends in carry guns design featuring aggressive surface textures that wraps 360 degrees, ported front slide serrations for increased purchase, and above all a removable chassis as the serialized component of the pistol. This provides the flexibility to offer a wide variety of grip frames. The Stance is in fact intended as the first of a complete family of handguns, according to the manufacturer. At present, the pistol is already available in three color options: Black, FDE and Gray.

Savage Stance: premium materials, finishes, and features
“Since Savage was sold in July 2019, President and CEO Al Kasper publicly stated that Savage Arms would be a complete firearm company,” Robert Gates, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Savage Arms said.
“Today, Savage is proud to announce its first step into what is the largest segment of the firearms market with the introduction of Stance, a micro compact 9mm pistol manufactured with premium materials, finishes, and features.”
Savage claims exceptional balance for its pistol. The ergonomic grip of the Savage Stance comes with two interchangeable backstraps for small or large sized grips, both at 18° angle. The gun is designed to be comfortable to carry in a holster and easy to conceal, also thanks to a beveled front and thin profile.
The stainless steel barrel is 3.2”/81 mm long. Magazine release and slide catch are ambidextrous. Ambidextrous manual safety models are available too.
For disassembly you just need to operate the takedown lever – there is no trigger pull or tool needed. The stainless steel slide has a melonite finish for corrosion resistance.
The Stance comes with 2 magazines and capacity options from 7, 8, or 10 rounds. The gun is also offered with night or standard sight options, or in a package including a Viridian E-Series red laser.
Prices range from $479 for the versions with standard sights and $548 with night sights, up to $561 if you want the laser package. Currently it's not defined when these models will hit the EU-markets.
