S&W Performance Center M&P9 Shield EZ, the upgrade

A new Performance Center M&P9 Shield EZ pistol chambered in 9mm and featuring a variety of Performance Center upgrades. From Smith & Wesson, a welcome addition that shares the same easy-to-use qualities of the popular M&P9 Shield EZ pistol series, but with premium Performance Center features. First, the look: the Performance Center M&P9 Shield EZ pistols are available with black, silver, and gold accents, and include a ported barrel, flat face trigger, tuned action. “Performance Center has the ability to design and manufacture specialty upgrades normally found in aftermarket work, straight from the factory. With the popularity of the M&P9 Shield EZ, we set out to develop Performance Center versions with porting, a tuned action, aftermarket sights, and more,” says Tony Miele, Sr. Director, New Products and Performance Center. “These new pistols deliver easy-to-use features with the custom upgrades that our customers expect the Performance Center to deliver.”

Performance Center M&P9 Shield EZ, an “easy” gun

Like its siblings, the Performance Center M&P9 Shield EZ is conceived as an “easy” gun (hence the EZ name), thanks to its easy-to-rack slide, easy-load-magazines, and easy-to-handle controls and grip. To this, the  Performance Center upgrades add a ported barrel to reduce muzzle flip, lightening cuts in slide for reduced weight, an enhanced grip safety and a lightweight trigger with tactile and audible trigger reset. A tactile loaded chamber indicator (TLCI) allows you to see and feel if there is a round in the chamber.

The  Performance Center M&P9 Shield EZ is a polymer-framed. internal-hammer fired gun intended for personal and home protection, with a  3.8” barrel and a magazine capacity of 8+1 rounds – not a lot of ammo, but that's the price you have to pay for a slim grip. Barrel and slide are stainless steel. Magazines feature a load assist tab for quick, easy loading. The new model also features an M&P 8-degree grip angle for a natural point of aim, HI-VIZ Litewave H3TM sights, and a light, crisp trigger. A today unavoidable underside Picatinny accessory rail completes the equipment.

The Performance Center M&P9 Shield EZ pistol ships with two 8-round magazines – MSRP in the US is 588 USD. The package also includes a Performance Center branded cleaning kit with collapsible cleaning rod with rotating T-handle, 10 cotton cleaning patches, nylon cleaning brush, bronze bore brushes and nylon jags, and nylon slotted tips.
