Manufacturer Česká Zbrojovka is equipping the new CZ NOCTURNE series of the tried-and-tested P-09 service pistol family with several new features. One of the most important of these is the optics-ready interface, which the two new CZ P-09 F NOCTURNE and P-09 C NOCTURNE models have factory. This interface is compatible with Shield RMS and Holosun K-Type Red Dot Sight footprints and allows the shooter to mount their preferred red dot sight directly on the slide. Incidentally, the "F" in the model designation stands for the Full Size version and the "C" for the Compact version.
CZ has also improved the grip texture on the new P-09 NOCTURNE to make it even easier to grip. The new texture has also been extended to other exposed surface areas of the frame. The grip itself is made from a very durable and robust fiberglass-reinforced polymer. Together, this should provide an even more solid and secure grip, allowing optimum control of the pistol when firing.
CZ has opted for high-contrast, luminescent three-dot sights, which ensures fast target acquisition even in poor lighting conditions. A tritium version of the 3-dot sights will be available on selected models. Controls have also been optimised too. For example, the skeletonised hammer of the P-09 NOCTURNE has improved ribbing to provide a better grip for the thumb when cocking the gun. The shape of the redesigned slide stop also makes it easier to operate the pistol, as does the ergonomic arrangement of the ambidextrous decocking lever and the manual safety, both of which can be swapped so that they can be used by both right- and left-handed shooters without any problems.
Thanks to its innovative features and sophisticated design, the manufacturer aims to set a new standard in the segment of SA/DA external hammer-fired polymer pistols with the new CZ P-09 NOCTURNE, which is reflected in the reliability, performance and versatility of the pistol in 9mm Luger.
In addition, the CZ P-09 NOCTURNE series comes with a Lifetime Warranty for the barrel, which covers both functionality and accuracy. CZ manufactures the barrels for these pistols exclusively at its factory in Uhersky Brod using an extremely precise cold hammer forging process that draws on several generations of CZ expertise and combines it with the use of state-of-the-art technology. The precision of cold hammer forged barrels is beyond question, and the precise barrels made in this way are also characterised by their longevity – which is all the more true for CZ barrels, according to the manufacturer. When and at what price the two pistols will be available in stores was not yet known at the time this article went to press. We will provide you with these details as soon as they are available.
