The Taurus GX4 pistol now also comes in a micro-red dot ready version: the new GX4 T.O.R.O. – the acronym stands for “Taurus Optic Ready Option”, but also means “bull” in Spanish – can in fact be fitted with several popular reflex sights.

These include: Shield RMSc, Holosun HS507K and HS407K, Sightmark Mini Shot A-Spec M3, Hex Wasp GE5077-MIC-RET, Sig RomeoZero, Riton 3 Tactix MPRD2 and Trijicon RMR cc Red Dot (with the optional adapter plate sold separately at Taurus online shop).
The GX4 T.O.R.O. also comes with a flush-mount slide cover plate for use with the non-optic option. Taurus already offers its G3 and G3c pistols in a T.O.R.O. version.
“The T.O.R.O. system is designed around a factory optic-cut slide for those who desire the advantages of a low-print EDC handgun and the confident sight picture of a red dot,” the manufacturer says, stressing how the T.O.R.O. platform is seamlessly integrated into the slide.

As for the gun itself, we already presented the palm-sized micro-compact Taurus GX4 a few months ago: it is a striker-fired, polymer-framed semi-auto pistol in 9mm caliber. It features a flat face, serrated trigger with a GLOCK-style safety blade and has no manual safety.

Magazine release is reversible. Besides the classic satin black DLC coating, the pistol is also offered with a Tungsten Cerakote and a Troy Coyote Tan Cerakote slide finish, for more color options. Clearly designed for concealed-carry and personal protection with minimal printing even when worn under light clothing, the GX4 series pistols – including the T.O.R.O. version – have a 10-, 11-, or 13-round capacity.
The new micro-red dot ready Taurus GX4 T.O.R.O. with one 11-round and one 13-round magazine carries an MSRP of $468.18, around 70 bucks more than the standard version. A quite competitive price that should make the latest Taurus product an interesting option and a strong competitor in the crowded market of optic-ready carry guns.
