New from Taurus: full-size G3 pistol

Taurus introduces a new polymer-framed, striker-fired 9mm pistol in the form of the G3. Based on the same proven polymer-frame profile of the previous G2c model, the G3 features a  a full-frame configuration – actually, it's the first Taurus full-size G-series pistol. According to the manufacturer's claim, the new G3 9mm semi-auto “represents the next generation in the Taurus G-series polymer-frame handguns”.

Designed for everyday carry thanks to its ergonomic design, reliability and and good cost-to-performance ratio, the compact G2c obviously lent itself to a 4-inch barrel version – the new Taurus G3.

Among the highlights, generous stippling patches across the grip for maximum control and retention in any shooting condition, an ergonomic palm swell and side-frame Memory Pads that provide quick, positive, and repeatable hand positioning. The frame integrates a Picatinny rail. The manual safety and slide release lever are optimally positioned above the thumb for easy manipulation. A loaded chamber view port allows for easy gun status checks.

Taurus is particularly proud of the new gun's  6-lb trigger complete with trigger safety. Described as a “refined element” it is “designed with a smooth take-up and a surprisingly crisp, clean break exceeding that of typical striker-fired pistol trigger performance”, with a short reset for quick, controlled follow-up shots. The manufacturer stresses that unlike most single-action firing systems, the G3 offers second-strike capability.

Slide front and frame are beveled. A steep contoured bevel along the back of the slide also minimizes clothing snags. Slide sports the now unavoidable front and rear serrations. The 3-dot sights include a drift-adjustable rear sight.

Slide can be carbon steel or stainless steel. The Taurus G3 comes indeed in six different models, offering consumer options not only in slide finish but also magazine capacities (two 10-round mags, two 15-round mags, or one 15- and one 17-round mag). Depending on the model configuration, MSRPs range from 345.23 USD to 360.70 USD (US prices).
