Mossberg MC2c – interesting self-defense pistols from the “king of shotguns” in 5 different versions

Mossberg introduced at the SHOT Show its latest 9mm semi-automatic pistol, the MC2c (the “c” stands for “compact”). The new model is an upgrade of Mosberg's MC1c sub compact pistol, launched in 2019.  Initially the new MC2c version will be available in five models that include two frame versions (standard and with cross-bolt manual safety), two slide finishes (black DLC or matte or stainless steel) and Truglo Pro tritium night sights. All models come with 13 or extended 15-round stainless steel magazines.

The slide of the new Mossberg MC2c pistol in 9mm features front and rear serrations.

Since this is a gun intended for concealed carry, dimensions have been kept as small as possible, considering that the barrel is 3.9”/ 10 cm long: the overall length is 7.1”/ 180 mm and the height is 4.88”/ 124 mm. Surprisingly, width is just 1.06”/ 27 mm. Weight (unloaded) is 21 oz / 595 grams. Besides the size, there are other technical features that round off the great ergonomics of this pistol: the grip, for example, is the same angle as a 1911, featuring the typical Mossberg grip texturing and palm swell. The stainless steel slide has front and rear serrations, and the magazine release button is reversible. The MC2c frame is high-tensile strength glass-reinforced polymer and integrated into the slide is the Mossberg STS (Safe Takedown System).   Just to give you an orientation: the weight is almost the same as a GLOCK 19, but the MC2c is slightly smaller. Prices in the US start at 490 USD and go up to 569 USD incl. optics (red-dot).

Unlike other similar pistols, user is not required to pull the trigger in order to disassemble the gun. Among the other features of the Mossberg MC2c, the adjustable 3-dot sights, a broach rifled stainless steel barrel (1:16 twist) and a black DLC finish. On the frame front is a Picatinny accessory rail. The trigger with integrated blade safety is distinguished by a very short reset and a pull weight of 5.5 lb / 2.5 kg. During the Industry Day at the Range test the gun proved to be very pleasant to shoot and very effective in defensive shooting.

The MC2c will be available in different models that include two frame versions (standard and with cross-bolt manual safety) and two slide finishes (black DLC or matte or stainless steel),
