At the NRA Annual Meetings (NRAAM) that took place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center from May 17 to 19, 2024 in Dallas, Texas, GLOCK dropped the G17L Gen5 MOS chambered in 9mm, the latest addition to the 5th Generation lineup. With a barrel length of 6.02” (equal to 153 mm) and a correspondingly long 205-mm sight radius, an accurately balanced slide, and a slightly lighter trigger pull (it can be upgraded with the in-house, optionally available GLOCK Performance Trigger) for ultimate precision, the GLOCK 17L is conceived as an ideal competition gun and is the longest version of the whole GLOCK pistol family.
G17L Gen5 MOS, welcome to Gen5
As indicated in its name, the 9mm G17L Gen5 features Glock's Modular Optic System (MOS) technology, that greatly simplifies mounting of popular optical sights – including red dots – for faster target acquisition. But not just that: the new G17L Gen5 MOS has been updated to also include all Gen5 design features and technology. This means that it features the GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) with enhanced rifling based on the proven polygonal barrel design for improved accuracy, and the elimination of the not-so-popular finger grooves on the front strap for individualized grips. The original GLOCK G17L also has a large, weight-reducing cut-out on the top of the slide: this is no longer found on the Gen5 MOS version.
Moreover, the G17L Gen5 MOS pistol adds an ambidextrous slide stop lever and a reversible magazine catch to enable optimal handling for both right and left-handed operators.
“As Perfection Continues at GLOCK, we are continually in development of new technologies and expanding our product offering. We are excited to bring you these two new additions to the Gen5 line of pistols,” said Josh Dorsey, VP at GLOCK, Inc.
On the G17L Gen5 MOS you can also expect all the popular and well-known features of GLOCK pistols, including the Safe Action System with three independently operating mechanical safeties that disengage sequentially as the trigger is pulled and automatically re-engage when the trigger is released.
Magazine capacity is 17 rounds (24- and 10-round magazines are available where required and/or allowed by law).
