Girsan Witness2311 Brat, a new Officer double-stack 1911 from Turkey

Girsan Witness2311 Brat, a new Officer double-stack 1911 from Turkey
With its square-cut “Officer” slide and modern design, the Girsan Brat is easily distinguishable.

To a distracted eye, it might look that there's something missing due to that square cut front, just like in a badly cropped photo.

But the new Girsan Witness2311 Brat (or simply Brat for short) is actually a compact, Officer-size double-stack 1911 pistol designed for concealed carry in mind and with a great capacity of 17+1 rounds in 9mm, or 11+1 rounds in .45 ACP.

(As you may have guessed, it is available in both calibers.) Overall length is 178 mm and weight is 635 g.

But it not just the excellent firepower or the compactness, also thanks to a 3.4″/86 mm barrel. The Girsan Brat has more to bring to the table...

Girsan Brat, a "next generation handgun"

The low-profile Novak style 3-Dot sights
Standard on the Girsan Brat, the low-profile Novak style 3-Dot sights and extended beavertail grip safety.

A few words on the manufacturer: Girsan is a Turkish company active since 1994 in the production of firearms, in particular semi-automatic pistols, some of which based on Beretta models (such as the Regard and the MC 14 T models we already presented her at all4shooters.com) and others based on the 1911 platform we are introducing here. They also have some interesting Browning Hi-Power clones in ther catalog (see the MC P35 model here). The Witness2311 is their double-stack series, which already includes several models.

In the USA, Girsan guns are imported by European American Armory Corp (EEA), that is now launching the Brat model we look at in this article.

A bull barrel lock up design and a removable and flared magazine
The Girsan Brat features a bull barrel lock up design and a removable and flared magazine well for quick magazine changes.

As anticipated, Brat's feature list is pretty long, and includes a bull barrel lock up, low-profile Novak style 3-Dot sights, extended beavertail grip safety, ambidextrous thumb safety, skeletonized hammer & trigger, and full-length accessory rail.

The removable and flared magazine well allows for quick magazine changes.

According to EEA, "The next generation 2311 handguns from EAA are sure to be a thorn on the side of their competitors due to their excellent manufacturing quality, low pricing, and consistent availability"

This is also partly due to the price, that at $679 (MSRP in the US) is quite affordable for a compact Officer-size double-stack 1911 pistol – a hard travel case is included too.
