The next generation of the CZ TS is here: Česká Zbrojovka (CZ) has just unveiled the CZ TS 2, a new sport pistol series optimized for competing in the IPSC Standard Division. A new slide design, frame and sport hammer are some of the exterior features that distinguish the newcomer in CZ's TS family. But there's much more: according to the manufacturer, “the new CZ TS 2 series is the result of independent development, where the extensive experience of CZ Shooting Team members was combined with the very latest design and production processes”.
CZ TS 2 pistol also offers a single-action (SA) only trigger mechanism with short travel and quick reset, increased accuracy and service life, improved frame and slide geometry (for easier, faster and more reliable operation), improved ergonomics, and aggressive checkering optimized for a reliable grip in a wide range of conditions. Other features include a 0.039”/1 mm red fiber optic front sight for quick and intuitive aiming, a durable finish and a machined magwell and flat, anodized duralumin base. And if you want to add a pinch of customization, you'll only have to choose among a wide range of components and accessories.
CZ TS 2, a totally new pistol
The CZ TS 2 pistol is the latest generation of CZ sport pistols. The first generation was the single-action only CZ 75 Tactical Sports model (CZ 75 TS – yes, that's what the “TS” stands for) that debuted fifteen years ago, in 2005 – which in turn was based on the previous sport CZ 75 Standard IPSC pistol from the second half of the 1990s. In 2015, an improved variation of this model appeared, the hand-fitted CZ 75 TS Orange. Then they also launched the CZ Shadow 2 model, a new gun which combined the extensive experience of the CZ Shooting Team with the latest design and production processes. And now, we have the CZ TS 2.
At Česká Zbrojovka they clearly explain that the new CZ TS 2 “has almost nothing in common with the first TS model (just the magazine and a few parts), although all characteristics of the first model’s successful operation were taken into account in its development”, and that even if “the external appearance of this model seems to show a distinct relationship to the CZ Shadow 2”, the CZ TS 2 is a completely different beast.
The pistol in fact comes with a new CNC-produced frame, and the latest manufacturing technologies allow for precise tolerances down to a hundredth of a millimeter. Together with the modified frame geometry, the newly designed slide with two pairs of serrations should contribute to easier, faster and more reliable handling. Muzzle rise is minimal and return is prompt.
A more prominent checkering on front and back straps ensure secure handling, while the hammer is the new CZ’s slanting design with a large relief hole. The machined magwell helps inserting the anodized duralumin magazine into place. The flat grips are also made of anodized duralumin.
But with the the CZ TS 2 series, CZ is actually introducing not just one, but three models. In addition to the standard model of the CZ TS 2 series there are in fact also the tuned-up Racing Green and Deep Bronze hand-fitted models with custom components for more advanced ISPC competitors. While the basic TS 2 is the entry model, the Racing Green is a more advanced design with flat, green anodized duralumin grips and magazines with green anodized bases. Additional features include a height adjustable rear sight, left hand thumb rest, flat slide stop, adjustable, green anodized extended magazine release, and an extended manual lock safety on the left side (flat on the right side).
The Deep Bronze version is presented as “A masterpiece of the sports special for competing in the IPSC Standard Division”: it's a hand-fitted and matched model featuring a frame with a Bronze Cerakote finish and a polished barrel. Its flat duralumin grips and magazine base are black anodized. The pistol comes standard with a flat slide release instead of a slide stop and is equipped with an adjustable metal sight, adjustable left thumb rest, adjustable, black anodized magazine release and an extended manual safety on the left side (flat on the right side).
Prices are as follows: 1749 euro for the Silver (basic) version; 2049 euro for the Racing Green; and 2649 euro for the Deep Bronze model. They could vary in your country due to different VAT and import duties, however.
Magazine capacity (20 rounds) and barrel length (5.27”/134 mm) are the same for all versions – CZ already anticipates that you can look forward to the launch of even more CZ TS 2 models in the next future. The TS 2 series is chambered in 9mm, but will also be available in .40 S&W soon.
