Breaking news: GLOCK introduces Optic Ready Slimline models G43X and G48

Last year GLOCK introduced the G43X and G48 semiauto pistols featuring the compact “Slimline” frame with a 10-round magazine capacity. Now the optic ready Slimline models are finally available with an MOS cutout and a slim GLOCK mounting rail system. With a non-standard MOS footprint, the Slimline MOS models require specific mico-reflex optics such as the Shield RMSc. Thanks to this design, the optical sight is closer to the shooter's line of sight and there is no need for high back-up sights as seen in other manufacturer's “red dot ready” pistols – the standard GLOCK sights can in fact be seen through the lens of the optic.

The non-standard accessory rail allows for a light to be attached with close alignment to the firearm’s bore in front of the trigger guard. This allows the operator to maintain a two-handed grip.

in the words of Shelby Lasater, GLOCK, Inc. Director of Marketing, “Engineered with the GLOCK perfection promise, the two new models are the first Slimline pistols to offer an MOS option and are ideal for shooters everywhere”. “The versatility of the Slimline MOS models give them the adaptability and ease of use for concealed carry, target shooting, law enforcement, and competition which make them a new favorite.”

The G43X in 9mm caliber features a 3.41”/86 mm barrel with a 10-round magazine and an overall weight (with loaded mag) of 23.07 oz/654 g.

The G48 in 9mm caliber is slightly longer, with a 4,17”/105 mm barrel, 10-round magazine and an overall weight (with loaded mag) of 25.12 oz/712 g. For both models the overall width is 1.10”/28 mm. (See here our test of the G43X and G48 Slimline standard models.)

Gen5 features such as the nDLC slide finish for extreme durability, a reversible magazine catch, and the match-grade GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) for increased accuracy are incorporated into both new models.

MRSP is to be announced soon on the GLOCK USA website.
