Along its series production of rifles, shotguns and pistols, for some time now Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta has being offering a range of special models, often inspired by the company's almost five-hundred-year history, at sometimes conceived as a tribute to extraordinary personalities of our era, such as the 486 Copernico side-by-side belonging to the PB Selection luxury line.
The youngest member of the family is a version of the 92FS Fusion pistol made from highly innovative materials and featuring advanced laser engraving technology. All this without forgetting the craftsmanship that distinguishes the Beretta brand.
Beretta 92FS Fusion OCP: innovation and accuracy
The new limited-edition semi-automatic handgun represents the perfect balance of tradition and innovation, which combine to make it the most accurate 92FS ever made. The name of this pistol alludes precisely to this fusion. Compared to military standards, which require a grouping where the sum of base and height shall not exceed 160 mm, the Beretta 92FS Fusion OCP in 9x19 mm caliber guarantees a value between 70 and 80 mm, thanks to the careful selection and finishing of the barrel. The controls of the 92FS Fusion OCP, such as the safety lever, hammer and magazine release, are finely checkered, mirror-polished and coated with DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) treatment. Slide, frame, trigger group and barrel of the 92FS Fusion OCP have all been DLC-coated to reduce friction in high-movement areas, increase slide mobility and improve trigger reset. The trigger is single-action only. The rear and front sights of the Beretta 92 Fusion OCP are dovetailed in the slide, which allows side adjustment. The magazine has a capacity of 15 rounds and is also available in a 10-round version for countries where capacity limits apply.
Going back for a moment to the surface treatment, it should be stressed that DLC is today the most innovative and environmentally friendly coating that Beretta applies to its products. Compared to previous treatments, DLC offers important advantages that make the gun highly resistant to corrosion and alkaline or acid solutions, including acid sweat from the palms of the hands.
Beretta Fusion OCP, a limited edition of 250 pieces
The Fusion OCP's grips are made of carbon fiber to withstand high-energy forces, as required of the 92FS by world military forces. The laser-engraved camo pattern of the 92FS Fusion OCP is a tribute to the military and law enforcement agencies that use the 92FS, allowing this limited series to be a combination of innovative and modern techniques and design.
The 92FS Fusion OCP, which will be made in a world limited series of 250 pieces, ships in a hand-crafted black leather case with the embossed Pietro Beretta shield, and comes with a safety lock, two magazines, a cleaning kit and a special tool for grip screws.
A congratulatory card in magnetic steel engraved with the numbered series will be included, certifying both the gun's serial number and authenticity, and will have the signature of Franco Gussalli Beretta, representing the fifteenth generation of the Beretta family.
