The Chinese company We Knife is known for the great price/quality ratio of its knives, but this does not mean that its products are low-end. On the contrary, We Knife has been offering models for some time now that, in terms of materials used and refinement of workmanship, can rival flagship products of European or U.S. brands. This is the case with the Hyperactive model a frame lock folding knife whose retail price is below $500.
We Knife Hyperactive: with Vanax steel blade
The materials used for the Hyperactive are high-standard: the blade of the Hyperactive Weknife is made of Vanax a sintered stainless steel manufactured by Bohler, which thanks to its relatively high percentage of nitrogen offers excellent edge retention and can be easily hardened to hardness of 60-62 HRC.
In the case of Hyperactive, the stated factory hardness is 60 HRC. At 96.5 millimeters long by 4 millimeters thick, the blade has a drop point profile and features double beveled surfaces that create a striking aesthetic effect. Grind is flat.
The blade is available in different finishes, including: Black Stonewashed Satin, Black Stonewashed Bevels with Black Brushed Flats, Polished Gray and Polished Bead Blasted.
The handle, made of 6AL4V titanium with mottled carbon fiber (Fat Carbon) inlays, is also offered in different and corresponding finishes/colors: Blue/Black with Arctic Storm inlay, Bronze/Black with Flamed inlay, Polished Gray Orange Peel Textured with Lava Flow inlay, and Polished Bead Blasted with Flamed inlay. Back spacer material is 6AL4V Titanium with polished bead blasted finish. The clip, which allows tip up carry, is also made of titanium and is reversible. 6AL4V Titanium is used for the screws and pivot caps too.
The Hyperactive also features small details worthy of a custom knife, such as the rings around the blade pivot pin caps, that have an iridescent finish. The blade pivots on caged ceramic ball bearings that ensure smoothness. The knife weighs around 150 g.
The Weknife Hyperactive is priced from $455 to $494, depending on the blade finish/Fat Carbon handle inlays combo.
