Carl Walther's ultra-modern factory in the Lehrer Feld industrial estate in Ulm, Germany, is primarily geared towards series production, but is home to a real treasure trove – the Meister Manufaktur. Here, apart from the standard models and in close consultation with discerning customers, unique pieces with the famous Walther scroll are created. Whether Cerakote-coated PDP or Q5 pistols with a colour-matching holster or an exclusive hard chrome surface finish, the possibilities are endless. This also applies to technical refinements such as a customised trigger for service pistols, alternative controls or special sights.
Although the tradition and craftsmanship in metalworking is based on almost 140 years of history since the company was founded in 1886 by its namesake Carl Walther, the Meister Manufaktur itself is still young: at the IWA 2015, it presented itself for the first time at the Walther booth and impressed both visitors and specialist dealers with its wide range of services. Despite the advanced environment of engineers, machining technicians, CAD experts and automated milling machines, traditionally trained gunsmiths are still at work here. These master craftsmen fulfil individual wishes within reasonable production times; the Manufaktur is currently managed by Michael Veser.
If you would like a personalised Walther pistol (or an air or rimfire rifle), you should ideally discuss this over the phone or on site at the factory and always by appointment. Existing samples and photos of individual items facilitate the decision-making process. As long as the technical safety of the gun is guaranteed, there are virtually no limits: a customised double sight consisting of an aiming device and open rear sight in a "co-witness" design? Here you can choose between red dot or open sights with the same point of impact. Or Swarovski rhinestones on the sides of a match air pistol for female shooters? Modern Cerakote coatings also allow patterns, flags or stripes.
Whether sporting guns or carry pistols, engraving or trigger tuning: Walther Meister Manufaktur creates unique models
In the world of sport, many world-class shooters take advantage of the opportunities for customisation. The most recent example: Anna Janssen, the newly crowned world record holder with the air rifle, designed the Walther LG500 itec Triple Edition model, limited to 500 units, in collaboration with the Meister Manufaktur team. The name was inspired by Janssen's impressive "triple" victory at the 2024 European Championships with three gold medals. This edition, which has been available since September, also includes something special: for every Triple Edition sold, 100 euros will be donated to the "Hospiz Kevelaer" at Anna Janssen's request.
The Walther website shows some classics that have already been realised as "serving suggestions". Models based on the Steel Frame-Q5 such as Black Tie, Black Diamond with a black DLC coating or the Patriot with US history motifs, skilfully designed by master engraver Bottega Giovanelli, were made in small series (and therefore relatively cheaper). Technically, the creations are mostly based on the same components: barrel, slide, grip frame and magazine base are hand-polished, Tenifer-nitrided and hand-polished again to ensure maximum surface hardness and corrosion protection. The Dynamic Performance Trigger, a sports trigger made of aluminum, is designed for dynamic shooting: short trigger pull, precise wall, short overtravel and quick reset. The pistols can also be excellently "tuned" for sport shooting, and Cerakote coatings ensure that the harsh conditions of everyday competition and the holster do not leave any marks on the finish.
How do you order your firearm from the Walther Meister Manufaktur?
Under firearms law, the order is processed by your trusted specialist dealer. Once the delivery date has been set, there is a special opportunity: on request, the new piece of jewellery can be handed over directly at the factory, including a tour of production and the Walther Museum, which is not normally open to the public. And the price? It is commensurate with the effort involved, but affordable if you want to purchase a unique Walther that no one else owns: the "Boston Tea Party" Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame presented in the video is an exclusive one-off, fully engraved by master engraver Jürgen Gösner and is likely to cost more than 60,000 euros.
