In today's 25m rapid fire pistol men's final, there were no surprises: world record holder Yuhong Li won gold with 32 hits (his record is 39 out of a possible 40). Silver went to Korea's Yeongjae Cho with 25 and bronze to the second Chinese shooter in the final, Xinjie Wang, with 23. Behind Germany's Florian Peter (4th) in the final were Ukraine's Pavlo Korostylov in 5th place and Italy's Massimo Spinella in 6th place. Christian Reitz, the 2016 Olympic champion and fifth in Tokyo in 2021, had already finished in an indisputable 23rd place yesterday.

2024 Olympic Games: the last shooting medals of these Summer Olympic Games in Châteauroux were won in skeet mixed team.  Beretta is the dominating brand in Olympic shotgun competitions

At the Olympic Games in Paris, for the first time in history, an equal number of female and male athletes were to take part in the competitions, thus achieving numerical gender parity. Mixed teams are another solution developed by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) and the IOC to equalise the ratio of male and female participants at the Olympics. In clay pigeon shooting events, it was decided to offer a mixed team competition in skeet for 2024, after trap mixed team was held in Tokyo 2021 (only the IOC knows why it cannot be trap mixed team and skeet mixed team now, analogous to 10m air rifle mixed team and air pistol mixed team). A total of 15 pairs took part in the competition, which is completed in one day: each athlete shoots three rounds, i.e. 75 targets. The two best teams from the qualifying round go through to the gold final, while the third and fourth-placed teams shoot for bronze.

The Beretta DT11 Black Pro in 12/70 gauge is a real highlight among competition shotguns. It has all the innovative features of the DT11 Black Edition and goes one step further: two removable muzzle weights and brand new, fully adjustable stocks for trap or skeet. Beretta developed the futuristic stocks in collaboration with the Italian company TSK. Beretta supplied more than half of all shotguns used at the 2024 Olympics in the trap and skeet disciplines. A double gold that came right at the end and was worth a lot because it rewarded two champions of the caliber of Diana Bacosi and Gabriele Rossetti who defeated the US pair Smith-Hancock in a stratospheric final.

In the mixed skeet event, even the previously favoured Americans Austen Smith (silver in the women's singles) and Vincent Hancock (gold skeet) were no match for Italia 1 (149 hits) with their 148 hits; both teams deservedly entered the gold final, while India and China battled it out for bronze.

The Italian mixed skeet pair, Diana Bacosi and Gabriele Rossetti equalled the world record with 149 (Bacosi's only mistake on the 15th clay pigeon of the first series). Unfortunately fifth were Martina Bartolomei-Tammaro Cassandro who hit 144 clay pigeons (5 Bartolomei errors and 1 Cassandro).

Bacosi and Rossetti, both Olympic gold medallists in Rio de Janeiro 2016, world gold medallists in 2019 and world silver medallists in 2022 in the mixed team, were off to a strong start. Smith, who won bronze in the individual and is the youngest of the four, missed her fourth skeet.

Bacosi missed a pull, but Smith made a second mistake on the same clay pigeon and the Italians were now ahead 23 to 22. Another error for Smith. Splendid recoveries by the Italians who went ahead by 2 points. Bacosi missed the last clay pigeon, but Hancock also missed a pull.

Still a two clay pigeon lead before the last eight clay pigeons. The Americans hit them all and arrived at 44. Unfortunately Rossetti made the first mistake, but Bacosi was perfect: gold for the two Italians who closed with great class at 45. A great performance by champions who were able to help themselves to the golden dream of Paris 2024. The shooting competition in Châteauroux could not have ended in a better way for Italy. It is a historic double gold because mixed skeet is on its Olympic debut.

Nele Wissmer and Sven Korte, both already very strong in their individual competitions, competed for Germany, but because they had narrowly missed out on the finals both times, they were still keen to top this in the joint mixed team event. However, Nele Wissmer struggled today and came away "under form" with 22, 24 and 23 hits for a total of 69 hits, while Sven Korte presented himself with two full 25-hit series after the 23-hit start. However, in order to compete for the medals in the completely different final procedure introduced especially for mixed events, at least fourth place had to be achieved: The teams in third and fourth place go into the bronze medal match, while the pairs in first and second place then shoot for gold and silver, all with points instead of hits.

Nele Wissmer and Sven Korte's Olympic appearance therefore came to an end after qualifying, with the German team slipping from 6th place down to 10th place with the last registered hits.
