In the end, it was a close call for the favoured duo from China in the gold final of the 10 meter air rifle mixed team: after a time-out and advice from the coach, Korea was able to reduce the score to 14-12, but then Yuting Huang and the reigning air rifle world record holder Lihao Sheng prevailed 16-12 against Jihyeon Keum and Hajun Park from Korea and secured their first gold medal of these Summer Olympics.
Bronze went to the strong-shooting team from Kazakhstan: Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev took the lead right from the start, while the German European champions Anna Janssen and Maximilian Ulbrich were unable to hold their own with only weak 10s under 10.5. Satatpayev in particular followed up one high ten with the next, which always secured his team's double score. With 17-5 points, bronze went to Kazakhstan (at least 16 points are required to win, a draw scores one point each. Kazakhstan only had 15 points before the final). The two Germans can regard the bronze final as additional nerve training for the upcoming individual competitions.

2024 Olympic Games: men's 10m air pistol – Serbia, Italy and Germany in the final tomorrow from 9.30 am
In the 10m air pistol, Damir Mikec from Serbia (584 points) and Federico Nilo Maldini from Italy (581) have qualified for the final, together with Germany's Christian Reitz (who mainly shoots rapid fire pistol) who finished third in the qualification with an excellent score of 580 out of a possible 600. Among the European shooters, another Italian, Paolo Monna, came fifth with a score of 579, while the second German starter Robin Walter with 577 points can also look forward to the final in eighth place.

Women also had their 10m air pistol qualification today from 12:30 p.m. Hungary's Veronika Mayor was the leader going into the final, which, however, will start from scratch again. Korea's Ye Jin Ho came second, followed by Manu Bhaker (India). Anna Korakaki from Greece, the 2018 world champion and 2016 Olympic bronze medallist in Rio with the air pistol, had to abandon her competition halfway through the 60-shot programme. According to the Greek City Times, she came down with a fever and was unable to continue the match.
