The organisation, which has just been successfully run-in from the April Grand Prix, will field all-Italian expertise and creativity in a competition at the highest level. We will be there, but in the meantime, here are a few sneak peeks.
From August 25 to 31, 2024, the 30th Muzzle Loading World Championship of the Muzzle Loaders Associations International Confederation-MLAIC will take place at the Valeggio shooting range near Verona, Italy. The last World Championship held in Italy was the one in Lucca in 2002, in 2007 there was the European Championship and then five Grand Prix Italian events.
Gianmario Delvò, president of the Consociazione Nazionale degli archibugieri (CNDA, the Italian National Arquebusiers' Association), explains: "All this is the result of the long work carried out over the previous years by a team of people who, with perseverance, self-sacrifice and a good deal of stubbornness, dedicated themselves to laying the foundations to ensure that we could reach this point. If we continue along this path, I am sure that we will do well in the international arena, and will also be able to grow at national level." The CNDA will deploy all its expertise, which was also tested with the 5th Italian Grand Prix held in Valeggio in April, and will enrich the proposal with all-Italian creativity. Valeggio sul Mincio is recognised as a city of art and is located between the provinces of Verona, Brescia and Mantua, an area where the memory of the Italian Risorgimento and its deeds of arms is still alive. The opening ceremony will take place in Borghetto, on the river, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, with historical re-enactment and cannon salutes. An 800-square meter marquee will be erected at the shooting range, where athletes and accompanying persons will be able to taste local specialities and more.
