New 7mm Precision Rifle Cartridge (PRC)
New cartridge, bullets and reloading accessories from Hornady in 2023. First and foremost, the 7mm Precision Rifle Cartridge (PRC). The “21st Century 7mm magnum” – as they define it – fits the niche between 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC.
The 7mm PRC delivers long, heavy for caliber bullets in a standard long action, featuring temperature-stable, magnum speed propellants for consistent velocity and longer barrel life.
Factory rifles are available, but since the diameter of the cartridge head is the same as the 7mm Rem Mag, you can simply swap the barrel on your 7mm Rem Mag or 300 Win Mag to fire this long-action, centerfire rifle cartridge.
Available loads are: 7mm PRC 160 gr CX Outfitter (muzzle velocity: 3,000 fps; muzzle energy: 3197 ft/lb), 7mm PRC 180 gr ELD Match (muzzle velocity: 2,975 fps; muzzle energy: 3,439 ft/lb), 7mm PRC 175 gr ELD-X Precision Hunter (muzzle velocity: 3,000 fps; muzzle energy: 3,497 ft/lb).
Reloading accessories and components are also available. The 7mm PRC is not CIP approved yet – approval is expected most likely by mid 2023.
New Sub-X (Subsonic – eXpanding) calibers
Hornady has expanded their SUB-X offerings to include four new calibers: .308” (175 gr and 190 gr), .357” (250 gr), .452” (395 gr), .458” (410 gr). SUB-X bullets are designed to perform below the speed of sound, providing reliable expansion, deep penetration and high weight retention even at lower velocities.
They feature a lead core, while long grooves in the gilding metal jacket combine with its flat profile and the patented Flex Tip insert within the bullet’s hollowpoint cavity to help it expand reliably even at velocities as low as 900 fps. Cannelures provide positive case crimp, making Sub-X ideal for semiautomatic weapons.
Hornady Precision Lab Scale
With a .01 grain readout Hornad's new Precision Lab Scale meets FBI protocol for terminal ballistic test and can be easily charged with an USB-cable or through a powerbank with USB-connection. Capacity is 3,000 grain.
The Precision Lab Scale also features high and low sensitivity, easy calibration, and can compare, percent and count modes.
Hornady Dual-Lid Lock Box
With the Dual-Lid Lock Box you can keep two handguns secure or store ammo safely and separately from your firearm in one space saving, easy-to-carry lock box. The unique design provides two spaces in one, each with a separate lid and keyed alike lock. The built-in handle makes it simple to transport.
Features include a dDurable 16-gauge steel housing, steel security cable with patented connector, two keyed alike steel barrel locks, foldable carry handle and premium foam interior. Overall Exterior Dimensions: (WxDxH) 11"x10"x2". Weight is 5.5 lb.
