GECO Hexagon – Why top shooter Luis Ehrhardt prefers this particular sporting cartridge for his successes

Luis Erhardt
At the age of 14, he already took part in the Bianchi Cup and got to know the world's best shooters: Luis Ehrhardt (now 22) still has a lot of plans.

For top shooters like Luis Ehrhardt, ammunition preparation also involves loading the necessary magazines.

"It was one of my first big Bianchi Cup competitions and admittedly, as an aspiring junior shooter, I had a lot of respect for all the big names who had gathered on the shooting range. It was still early in the morning and colder than expected. I shivered a little and was nervous before the match started. In the preparation zone, I loaded the single-stack 1911 magazines of my STI match pistol in 9mm Luger with the GECO 124-grain Hexagon cartridges that deliver absolute top precision from my firearm. Finally, I was called forward by the range officer and stepped to the starting line of the 'falling plates' event. However,  mental calm and self-confidence were restored once I had hit the six 20-cm diameter steel hinged plates neatly in the middle within the time limit of six seconds over two passes at the closest distance of 10 meters. From then on, the competition was plain sailing for me. I was then able to drop the six steel plates without error below the time limits of 7, 8 and 9 seconds at 15, 20 and 25 meters in two or four passes."

"It's nice when you can rely 100% on your gear," says Luis Ehrhardt, an aspiring shooter from the GECO DREAMTEAM. Despite his young age, Luis Ehrhardt can already look back on a remarkable sport shooting career today and has gained a great deal of experience. Since he was 14 years young, he already became a regular participant in shooting with his small bore pistol in the open class of the Bianchi Cup, because he was not yet allowed to shoot large caliber due to his age. There he also met such greats as the world's best Bianchi Cup shooter and multiple world and USA champion Doug Koenig.

Luis Ehrhardt's ammunition tip: GECO Hexagon

Modelled on the hollow point design, the GECO Hexagon bullet was built for absolute precision and with no regard for its expansion properties. This non-expanding bullet thus combines the advantages of the HP design, such as the closed end with optimal potential for accuracy. It is available in four calibers.

Hexagon im Schnitt
1. AERODYNAMICALLY OPTIMIZED BULLET SHAPE
The almost closed tip is aerodynamically advantageous, as it provides a more straight trajectory with less velocity loss.
2. SIX STABILIZING GROOVES

The six long grooves cause the so-called “golf ball effect”. This means that the air vortexes produced during rotation around the longitudinal axis provide additional stabilization of the bullet in flight.
3. OPTIMIZED CENTER OF GRAVITY
The center of gravity of the bullet, which has been relocated far back, contributes to better accuracy.
4. IMPROVED GUIDANCE IN THE BARREL
The long cylindrical section of the bullet ensures better guidance in the barrel.
5. PRECISION CARTRIDGE CASE
With uniform wall thickness and optimized concentricity.
6. HIGH PERFORMANCE POWDER
For uniform velocity development and reduced burning temperature.
7. CLOSED BULLET BOTTOM

For shooting without lead emission.
8. NATO QUALIFIED SINTOX PRIMER

For heavy metal free ignition.

Innovative high-performance precision cartridges for the highest sporting demands

The bullet is available in different calibers:

9 mm Luger
.357 Magnum
.44 Rem. Mag.
.45 AUTO
