Timney, whose company claim is “The oldest and largest trigger manufacturer in the world and the leader in the aftermarket trigger category”, drops its new budget-minded AR trigger named “The Impact”.
As explained in their press release, “Timney has been asked for an AR trigger at a lower price without compromising on quality for budget-build ARs”. The result is a trigger with a price tag under 190 euro (price may vary in your country) with a crisp 3-4 pound break and machined from billet steel – no metal injection molding or stamped parts. Only downside is that pull weight is not adjustable, but for the price you can certainly bear with it.
The single-stage Impact trigger featuring a solid curved shoe will drop in to all Mil-Spec AR's and most clones. All components are captive in the lightweight, aluminum alloy housing. Hammer is wire-EDM cut from S7 tool steel, combining wear resistance with superior impact resistance for heavy use without chipping or breaking. Other components are wire EDM cut from A2 tool steel, then heat treated to Rc 56-60 for long service life.
The Impact installs using your rifle's original hammer/trigger pins – Timney's proprietary design eliminates pin walkout. Professional installation is recommended anyway.
Intended as an entry-level trigger, according to the Phoenix-based manufacturer the Impact “gives the traditional competition triggers, which have been tried and tested for years, with their individual trigger weights or trigger tongues - a little brother who is not inferior in terms of its competitive quality criteria.”
