Carry package: Ruger MAX-9 pistol & the new ReadyDot Micro Reflex Optic

Ruger is now offering its 9mm micro compact MAX-9 pistol complete with a factory-mounted Ruger ReadyDot micro reflex optic.

The Ruger MAX-9 pistol with Ruger ReadyDot micro reflex optic is designed for EDC carry. The Ruger MAX-9 is a striker-fired carry pistol with glass-filled nylon grip frame. Capacity is 12+1 in 9mm calliber.

The MAX-9 was launched a couple of years ago: chambered in 9mm Luger, it's a modern striker-fired carry pistol with glass-filled nylon grip frame that boasts an impressive 12+1 capacity in a micro compact size. It also features a loaded chamber viewport, a manual safety, a rigid  one-piece, precision-machined aluminum fire control housing and through-hardened steel slide.

The original MAX-9 was already optic-ready; now you can also have it paired with a factory-mounted Ruger ReadyDot micro reflex optic. Ruger's ReadyDot co-witnesses with the tritium fiber optic day/night front sight and uses the light-gathering properties of fiber optics, giving the user an optic that is self-adjusting for brightness and never needs a battery.

New Ruger ReadyDot micro reflex optic – no batteries required

Ruger's ReadyDot micro reflex optic is co-witnessed with the tritium fiber optic front sight.

In the manufacturer's words, “The Ruger ReadyDot micro reflex optic is an ultra-reliable 1X reflex sight with a Shield RMSc footprint designed specifically to co-witness with the Ruger MAX-9 micro compact pistol. The 15 MOA dot is highly visible and optimized for rapid target acquisition at pistol distances.”  The use of a reflex sight like the Ruger ReadyDot allows the shooter to keep both eyes open and focus on the target, rather than the front sight.

The new Ruger ReadyDot micro reflex optic uses the light-gathering properties of fiber optics, giving the user an optic that is self-adjusting for brightness and never needs a battery.

The 1x magnification is non-adjustable and the large 15 MOA dot is optimized for rapid target acquisition at pistol distances. It must be stressed again that unlike optics that utilize batteries and micro electronics to generate their aiming dot, the Ruger ReadyDot does not need any power supply. Since it does without delicate adjustment mechanisms, this very simple reflex sight is quite rugged, waterproof and shock resistant.

With a suggested price in the U.S. of $489, Ruger's MAX-9 and  ReadyDot Micro Reflex Optic combo also includes two E-Nickel Teflon coated magazines and finger grip extension floorplate that can be added to the magazine for comfort and improved grip.
