First presented at the ShotShow 2024 in January, with the FastDot H3 HIVIZ aims to set new standards for sport shooters and concealed carry alike with a reliable, fast and user-friendly open sight. The aiming device consists of a rear sight and a front sight in which the conventional elements have been replaced by a dot and a circle. This is how it works:
The HIVIZ FastDot H3 in detail: how the helpful sight for pistols works
The FastDot H3 enables the shooter to aim intuitively and immediately provides clear feedback on the sight picture. Instead of a conventional front and rear sight that have to be aligned, the shooter sees a tritium/fiber-optic luminous dot within a circle. The innovative technology is as simple as it is ingenious: if the shooter aligns the dot within the circle, the red dot disappears behind the front sight and a green dot appears. The slogan "Red No - Green Go" from the manufacturer from the US state of Wyoming is intended to define the simple and intuitive operation of the sights.
The manufacturer also points out that this sight set offers the simplicity of a red dot sight system while eliminating the bulk, it doesn’t require batteries and allows for faster sight acquisition right out of the holster, day night. It also allows improved visibility around the sight picture.
On the thinking behind the sight, Phil Howe, president and founder of HIVIZ, says: “Since 1996, HIVIZ has sought to improve the art of shooting through simple, yet innovative products for rifles, pistols and shotguns. With the popularity of red dot sights increasing over the last decade we saw an opportunity to use our expertise in iron sights and bridge the gap between traditional iron sights and red dot sights."
Application area, availability and price of the HIVIZ FastDot H3
The HIVIZ FastDot H3 can be used universally for both concealed carry and sport shooting and is designed to facilitate aiming, especially in dynamic situations or disciplines. HIVIZ states that the FastDot H3 cuts a fine figure in the hands of both inexperienced shooters and professionals. Also important for the latter, the FastDot H3 is no higher than standard sights, which makes it compatible with conventional standard holsters.
The HIVIZ FastDot Red H3 is available for GLOCK and GLOCK MOS pistol models and for the SIG Sauer P320. Further models suitable for the S&W M&P and Walther PDP pistols are already in preparation. MSRP in the US is $175.
