It is an undeniable truth that in the last dozen or so years the hunting and shooting sports world has been literally conquered by a veritable army of female enthusiasts. Girls and ladies of all ages and backgrounds have steadily boosted the numbers of hunters and shooters worldwide, with the most dramatic increase in the US. In Europe, albeit slowly, this trend is increasing, and as a result, an obvious market for appealing and female-specialized shooting products is flourishing: firearms, clothing and apparel, accessories and… gun cases.
Testing the range bags by Bulldog Cases
Today we take a look at a line of Lady gun cases and range bags offered by Bulldog Cases, a US based manufacturer. The products we received include soft padded shotgun and rifle cases featuring Muddy Girl’s pink hued Camouflage and light blue Serenity camo patterns, plus a couple of Bulldog’s BDT (Bull Dog Tactical) concealed carry backpacks and sling packs. We also take a look at a Lady optimized Muddy Girl camo holster, made for small frame revolvers and compact automatics.
Muddy Girl is a brand owned by Sirphis (until late 2018 known as Moon Shine Camo), a PA (USA) based company that specializes in creating surface patterns and designs – note the assonance with the brand name and “Surface”. Brands, apparel and pattern names owned by Sirphis include Muddy Girl, Lifestyle Camo, Pulse, and Grit House. Muddy Girl brand has enjoyed significant and widespread popularity as the girl go-to fabric pattern for the whole outdoor industry, used on apparel (including lifestyle clothing and accessories), firearm color schemes, and hunting, range and gun cases, bags and packs.
Muddy Girl Camo pattern
Let’s start with the small Bulldog Range Bag, with the pink hued Muddy Girl Camo pattern. Very compact at 28x17.8x5cm, the bag is made of water-resistant Nylon and houses up to two handguns, with inside pockets for magazines and ammo and has outer zippered pockets. In our opinion, it can take either one large pistol and magazines, or two pistols, not both.
The larger Bulldog Range Bag Deluxe, with light blue hued Serenity Camo pattern shares the same water-resistant Nylon outer shell construction. This 33x17.8x17.8 cm range bag features a large main compartment with removable divider, outer zippered pockets for extra storage, adjustable shoulder strap and space for two handguns, ammo, and shooting range necessities such as ear and eye protection and gun cleaning basics. Not much to say - the size is just perfect for the casual shooting session.
The pistol holster we tested is a Bulldog Extreme nylon, model FSN-20MDG: it’s a holster for Sub Compact Autos with 2–3” Barrels and small frame revolvers, with Muddy Girl Camo pattern. The holster is fitted with a belt loop and Clip (AMBI) and also features a front magazine pocket with velcro strap. The holster is built using fused padding to provide protection to the gun and comfortable concealed carry, and a spine protector to keep the gun sights from tearing the scratch resistant inner lining. The Bulldog Extreme holster line is available in 25 custom fit sizes that fits most models. We tested it with SIG Sauer 232 .380 Auto pistol, and although carry is very comfortable, we feel that the extraction may be slower than other products on the market, due to the particular fastening system used.

Bulldog Pinnacle nylon gun case in Muddy Girl and Serenity patterns
We also received a 52"/132 cm Bulldog Pinnacle nylon gun case in both Muddy Girl and Serenity patterns, the case is well lined and padded; the cases feature a full length zipper, water-resistant leather trim end panels, X-large zippered accessory pocket, and a removable shoulder strap.
The case will accommodate a shotgun or traditional scoped hunting rifle. In addition, a Bulldog 52" Deluxe Nylon Case was also included. The water-resistant nylon outer shell is colored in pink – and a portion of all Bulldog pink case sales are donated to support breast cancer awareness. This case sports a scratch-resistant inner lining, full length zipper, a pink leather end cap for extra barrel protection, and zippered accessory pocket. Both Pinnacle and Deluxe cases have good running zippers, and the nylon is of good quality. Considering the MSRP they are a very good value.
Bulldog BDT Back Pack Compact and Carry Sling Pack Small
Last but not least, the Bulldog BDT Back Pack Compact and Carry Sling Pack Small. We would consider both packs as entry level, quality wise, for budget conscious users. The BDT Back Pack Compact AU Camo is 45.7x25.4x25.4 cm with two main and two accessory compartments plus a Hydration Bag. Zippers are metal heavy duty; the nylon padded straps, drag/carry handle and all panels are sturdy and well stitched, for this price point. The BDT Carry Sling Pack Small Tan includes a left/right zippered holster compartment that allows concealed carry of a full-size handgun and ammo, with an included “Universal” velcro holster. The handgun can be drawn easily by slinging the pack sideways from the shoulder and reaching for the gun once is it is almost in front of the user, however many other techniques can be employed. The pack also accommodates a tablet in a padded pocket inside the main compartment, plus provides a wealth of storage spaces and pockets. The padded shoulder sling strap can be adjusted and there is an additional strap to provide stability.
To wrap up our test, Bulldog Cases line of Muddy Girl Camouflage and Serenity camo patterns lady gun cases and range packs, plus the two BDT packs, offer a great price/performance ratio; in our opinion, they are among the best deals for the budget.
