A straight oil-rubbed grade “A” walnut English stock with splinter forend, classic blued finish, blued double mechanical trigger with long tang trigger guard, and available in 12 or 20 gauge with 3”/76 mm chamber: these are the classic features of the new Weatherby Orion SXS side-by-side, the latest addition to the Orion family. With its “middle-ground” 28”/71 cm barrel length the Orion SXS is designed for both bird hunting and clay shooting, and that's why it comes equipped with five extended choke tubes (Yildiz Improved Modified, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Full, Skeet).

Weatherby Orion SXS features
In the new Weatherby Orion SXS – the first side-by-side in Weatherby's Orion double-barrel shotgun range, that till now included three over-and-under models – a swamp rib (used to aid the shooter in keeping their face on the stock focusing on the target) and brass bead sight ensure a clear sight picture for accurate wing shooting.
The Orion SXS is pretty lightweight too, at 6.7 lb, or 3 kg approx., in 20 ga and 7.2 lb/3.26 kg in 12 ga, which means it can be carried all day without much effort.
In the mechanical double trigger, the front trigger fires the right barrel and the rear trigger fires the left barrel.
The classic straight English stock with the slim splinter forend helps natural pointing and easy transition between the two triggers, while the tang safety allows quick transitions from the safe position to the fire position.
Being “made for conscious bird hunters,” the Orion SxS also “features extractors to make sure empty shells end up in your pocket and not on the landscape”.
The price tag is the same for the 12 ga and 20 ga models, and quite interesting: $1,099. The new Weatherby Orion SXS side-by-side is already available: check your local Weatherby dealer.
