There's something about lever-action guns that makes them popular even among non-firearms enthusiasts. And the Lever Action Axe .410, the newest addition to the Henry product lineup, actually “put a smile on your face” – as they say. It's a very compact .410 bore firearm featuring a 5-round capacity of 2 1/2" .410 shells, a just under 16”/ 416 mm-long barrel, a genuine American walnut stock, a side loading gate, and an overall length of just over 26”/ 660 mm.
The barrel is finished off with a brass bead front sight and Invector style threads that are fitted with a removable full choke right out of the box.
The gun's name comes from the “axe handle” pistol grip , which is also engraved on the bottom with the iconic Henry Cowboy logo.
Technically speaking, the addition of a loading gate means that you can keep that capacity topped off at all times without needing to remove a tube magazine.
Henry Lever Action Axe .410, compact fun
What can the Henry Lever Action Axe .410 be used for? Well, fun basically. As the manufacture aptly explains, “Not all firearms need to fit neatly into categories like hunting, home protection, or good ol’ backyard plinking. We feel that simply being fun to pull out of the scabbard and shoot again and again should be a category all its own. For those that join us in considering this an important category, the Lever Action Axe .410 delivers in spades.”
In any case, the Lever Action Axe .410 is a very practical gun that's also compact enough to be transported in a backpack. Moreover, it's chambered in an easy-to-manage caliber.
Price in the US is 970 USD – at present, we don't know if it will be imported to Europe yet.
