Brand-new Taurus Expedition, Taurus' first bolt-action rifle

After the TH10, its first 10mm pistol, here comes another “first” for Taurus: it had been talked about for some time, and we got confirmation at the SHOT Show 2024 where Taurus USA, for the first time in its history, presented a bolt-action rifle, the Expedition.

The integrated Spartan Precision attachment point and an M-Lok attachment on the forend underside allow for the mounting of a bipod or for placing the new TAURUS Expedition on a tripod.

The novelty relates more to the manufacturer's sales policies than to the technical aspect, since the Expedition is a rather conventional rifle based around the popular Remington 700 action, whose stocks, trigger assemblies and other accessories already available on the market are fully compatible with Taurus' Expedition. The removable magazine, on the other hand, is a 5-round AICS type, and here again the aftermarket offers a huge wealth of options.

Launch at SHOT Show 2024: Taurus Expedition rifle, with 18” barrel and chambered in .308 Winchester

Taurus Expedition: the 18” hammer-forged barrel of the Expedition is stainless steel, just like the frame. All metal parts have a Black DLC finish.

The Expedition's stock is polymer, with non-slip finish. The integrated Spartan Precision attachment point and an M-Lok attachment on the forend underside allow for the mounting of a bipod or for placing the rifle on a tripod – the stock's scalloped cut is also designed to make the gun rest perfectly in gun saddles. The safety is two-position, located on the right side of the receiver. For the moment being, the Taurus Expedition is available in .308 Winchester only, with an 18”/457 mm barrel. The barrel is hammer-forged stainless steel, muzzle-threaded, and – just like the bolt – shows a shallow helical fluting. Frame material is stainless steel too, and all metal parts have a Black DLC finish.

The Taurus Expedition features a polymer stock. The magazine is an AICS-compatible 5-rounds type.

To keep the price under the $1,000 mark – MSRP in the U.S. is $984.99 – the rifle has no mechanical sights, but the action is drilled and tapped for 6-48 screws. Let's see, if it will find the way to European markets. We'll keep you informed.
