At the end of last April, more than 81,000 people attended the 2019 NRA annual meeting in Indianapolis. But 2019 also marks the 125th Anniversary of Savage Arms: the US company was in fact founded by Arthur Savage back in 1894. That’s why during the NRA show, Savage Arms launched a large variety of interesting new and updated models and added new calibers to existing models. Moreover, Savage partnered with Mossy Oak to create firearms with new Overwatch camouflage, the official pattern of the NRA. The unique pattern utilizes cutting-edge design technology and features the NRA logo embedded within the pattern.
The new Savage Overwatch Series includes seven rifle models:
- A22 FV-SR straight-blowback action semi-auto in 22 LR
- B Series bolt action in 22 LR and 17 HMR
- A17 semi-auto in 17 HMR
- MSR 15 Recon 2.0 semi-auto in 5.56x45mm/223 Rem.
- MSR 10 Hunter semi-auto in .308 Win. and 6.5 Creedmoor
- Model 110 Ridge Warrior bolt-action in 308 Win. and 6.5 Creedmoor
- Axis II bolt-action in many caliber options
The new 110 Classic rifle: complete adjustability
Among the other highlights, the new 110 Classic stands out. The rifle features a quality walnut stock with modern ergonomics similar to those of the new Model 110 design (we tested the 110 High Country version in 6.5 Creedmoor just some weeks ago: see here). In addition, Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger and a carbon steel barrel with a 9/16-24 threaded muzzle. Receiver is drilled-and-tapped for scope mounts, while a push-button mechanism allows the shooter to adjust length-of-pull and comb height. Calibers available include .243 Win, .308 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08 Rem., .270 Win., .30-06 Springfield, 7mm Rem.Mag. and .300 Win. Mag.
Savage also offers a limited-edition 125th Anniversary Edition Model 110 collector’s rifle. Only 1,894 will be built, each crafted with a high-gloss Monte Carlo walnut stock, along with special engraving on the receiver, grip cap and detachable box magazine.
