The BRX1 is a bolt-action rifle with a straight-pull action that has been on the market for some time now (we introduced the BRX1 in this article). It is characterised in particular by the combination of high functionality and safety with an affordable price. The Italian manufacturer Beretta has now expanded its range and offers a variant optimised for wild boar and driven hunting straight from the factory. We took a closer look at what the rifle has to offer.
The new Beretta BRX1 Wild Boar: the technical details
Probably the most striking feature of the new Beretta BRX1 Wild Boar is the orange polymer buttstock and forend. This ensures that the hunter is highly visible on social hunts. The length of pull (LOP) can be adjusted to the hunter's own requirements using stock pads and spacers. The magazine included in the scope of delivery also comes in the highly visible orange color. While the standard BRX1 comes without open sights, Beretta has fitted the Wild Boar edition with open front and rear sights. The rear sight is designed with a yellow anti-reflection notch and the front sight has a fiber optic insert. If you want to mount an optic, there is a Picatinny standard rail on the top of the receiver.
The new Wild Boar Edition has all the other Beretta BRX1 features on board and is also suitable for left-handed shooters
All the familiar features of the BRX1 series from Beretta are also on board this Wild Boar edition. These include the matt black barrel with M14 muzzle thread (barrel profile: 16 mm). This allows a silencer to be fitted, for example. The barrel is fitted with a military-standard 8-lug rotating bolt. In magnum calibers there are even 16 lugs.
In terms of operation, the rifle features the familiar 3-position safety on the top of the receiver. The trigger is still adjustable in three positions and thus enables a trigger pull weight of 950 to 1,500 grams. Left-handed shooters can use the rifle to its full potential. The bolt handle can be repositioned in a few simple steps. The magazine release on both sides and the safety can be operated identically from both sides thanks to its central position.
The model comes in the most common driven hunt calibers: .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield and .300 Winchester Magnum. The barrel lengths vary, but the prices apply regardless of the caliber and are €1,850 each (RRP – price may be different in you country).
