Pulsar Telos: launch of the "Telos Upgradeability Service" – Information and background on the thermal imaging upgrade

We have already reported on the modularly expandable Telos thermal imaging monocular series from Lithuanian manufacturer Pulsar at the two major spring trade fairs. You can find the reports linked here under the name of the respective trade fair: SHOT Show 2024 and IWA OutdoorClassics 2024. Now it's time to move from grey (trade fair) theory to practice, as Pulsar is now launching its "Telos Upgradeability Service". Find out what's behind it, which devices are eligible and how to get your Telos upgrade here.

Pulsar announces the official launch of the "Telos Upgradeability Service" – You can now have your Telos thermal imaging device upgraded

Pulsar introduced the upgradeability service (UPG) with the Telos series. Here is the Telos XP50 LRF model.

The company is the first manufacturer to pursue an innovative sustainability concept for optoelectronics in this category. The aim is to extend the product life cycle by around two to three times through upgradeability and to enable hunters to further develop the technology on the basis of their existing device.

Pulsar launched the new Telos series of thermal imaging monoculars at the beginning of 2024. In addition to technical and ergonomic enhancements, such as wireless charging of the removable battery pack and consistent two-handed operability, Pulsar also established the modular Telos product concept with the series: an "upgradeable device platform" (UPG for short). This now offers the option of upgrading the device with the following core optical components thanks to correspondingly interchangeable elements:

  • Sensor with higher resolution/sensitivity
  • Objective lens with longer focal length
  • Extension with Laser Rangefinder (LRF)

Which models in the Telos series from Pulsar can be upgraded?

Overview of possible upgrades for the Pulsar Telos: depending on the model, various modifications can be made to the device.

The fully equipped top model in the current Telos line-up is the XL50 LRF with 1,024 sensor resolution, 50-mm lens and LRF module. This will also be upgradable in the medium term with improved components available in the future.

A brief model guide to the basic models of the Pulsar Telos series available to date:

How does Pulsar's upgrade service work, what can be upgraded and what will it cost?

First of all, the implementation is not a plug & play operation on the open-heart device by the customer – it is carried out at Pulsar.

You can easily check which upgrades are possible on the existing Pulsar Telos and at what price on the Pulsar website.

The Pulsar Telos product upgrade in three steps:

1. All compatible upgrade options, including the expected price, can be configured on the Pulsar Upgrade Portal. Requests for quotations and orders are processed via the responsible national distributor.

2. For the modular upgrade of the sensitive optoelectronic components, the customer's own thermal imaging device must be sent to Pulsar via the national distributor.

3. After the conversion, as well as the necessary calibration and testing of the Pulsar upgrade, your upgraded thermal imaging device will be sent back to you via the national sales partner.

Here on the manufacturer's website you will find further information on the Telos and other thermal imaging devices from Pulsar.
