LEICA: New 2016 hunting scopes and binoculars

Just one day before the doors to the 2016 IWA OutdoorClassics in Nuremberg were scheduled to open to European industry professionals on March 4, the 4th annual International RWS Shooting Day was held on the grounds of the RUAG Ammotec GmbH facility in Fürth. We used the opportunity to take a closer look at the new products from Leica.

Leica Visus i LW - allrounder for hunting from an elevated blind or for stalking

The new Leica Visus i LW scopes were debuted to European industry professionals at the 2016 IWA and will be available in stores starting in May 2016 (matte) and in June 2016 (gloss). Leica's Visus i LW scopes will be available in these models: 2.5-10 x 42 i LW and 3-12 x 50 i LW.

Features of Leica's Visus i LW scopes:

The buyer can choose between glossy and matte models.

The high-quality aluminum surfaces of the glossy models are polished by hand for hours, then the inscriptions are engraved using a stylus and provided with a multicolored inlay - also by hand, of course.

The aluminum surfaces on the matte models are sandblasted and anodized. This makes the scopes especially robust and resistant to scratches or abrasion. The matte models also are engraved by stylus and provided with multi-colored inlay.

The rubber eyecups are the only synthetic materials used on either model, the other components were replaced with high-quality, painstakingly manufactured metal parts. In addition, both models can be acquired in versions with rails.

Leica Magnus i scopes – four new models

Leica Magnus
IWA 2016: Leica Magnus riflescope

The Wetzlar-based optics manufacturer  debuted its new, second generation Magnus scopes at the 2016 IWA. These upgrade models developed by LEICA offer new features such as tool-free zeroing of the tower scale and optimized coverage metrics on the reticle. Moreover, the operating life of the scopes has been extended by reducing energy consumption.

The new LEICA Magnus rifle scopes will be available in four versions starting May 2016:

·   Leica Magnus 1-6.3 x 24 i

·   Leica Magnus 1.5-10 x 42 i

·   Leica Magnus 1.8-12 x 50 i

·   Leica Magnus 2.4-16 x 56 i

All four models have an extremely clear illuminated dot with fine-tuned brightness settings. It has a roughly 92% transmission rate and ensures reliable aiming even under challenging lighting conditions. The up to 6.7X zoom provides for exceptional flexibility, which makes Magnus i scopes suitable for all types of hunting.
