GECO ammunition news 2023: these are the new hunting and sporting cartridges – Everything you need to know (with videos)

In the past year, GECO focused primarily on new loads in the area of training and match ammunition, with the exception of a new addition – the GECO Star. The lead-free GECO DTX and the GECO Target HP were added in new calibers. Short-range ammunition in the form of GECO Action Extreme Fragmentation was also included.

At IWA 2023, the focus will once again be somewhat more on hunting ammunition: There will be new loadings for both the GECO Star and the GECO Express. But there will also be new cartridges for sport shooters: the GECO Target HP in small and large calibers will be available for the shooting range and competitions. Of course, everything under the motto: GECO – Where excitement starts!

GECO Star: lead-free all-round ammunition soon also in .270 Win.

GECO is again expanding its range of lead-free hunting ammunition with good performance and an attractive price-performance ratio. The number of available calibers for GECO Star's lead-free deformation bullet will increase to eight from the second quarter of 2023: the all-purpose all-round cartridge will then also be available in .270 Win. with a bullet weight of 8.4 grams.

The copper bullet used in the GECO Star has a high penetration effect. It has excellent deformation properties at all hunting distances and impresses with a high residual weight. The GECO Star thus offers a high shock effect and ensures short flight paths. Precision and ballistics are also right thanks to the performance grooves on the bullet. In addition, meat damage remains minimal.

Introduced last year, the GECO Star in 9.3x62 will also be available to reloaders starting in the second quarter in the form of the 9.3mm bullet weighing 16.2 grams. Here come the technical details as well as the prices:

GECO Express 2023: new calibers for maximum speed and high shock effect when hunting – Even at long ranges

This year, the manufacturer is expanding its GECO Express hunting line to include the 8x57JS and 8x57JRS calibers, each with a bullet weight of 11.7 grams. This means that the GECO Express, with its high velocity and high instantaneous effect, is available for a total of 13 different calibers.

"The Fast Hunting Bullet" – this is the claim for the express ammunition in GECO's product range. The cartridge is designed for maximum velocity and a flat trajectory, which means that penetrating power and accuracy are guaranteed even at long ranges. This is also ensured by the outstanding streamlined bullet shape with low air resistance. Thanks to its specially adapted "GECO Special Jacket", GECO Express's high velocity is converted into energy. As a hollow point bullet, the GECO Express hunting ammunition initiates its deformation quickly and then leads to a powerful knock-down effect even at long ranges.

GECO Target HP 2023: new calibers for long range shooting

Two years ago, GECO unveiled its new sporting and training cartridges designed specifically for long-range shooting – fittingly, initially offered in the trendy 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5x55 SE calibers. After adding the widely used .308 Win. medium caliber last year, the manufacturer is now adding loadings at the lower and upper ends of the weight scale to its Target HP: the calibers .223 Rem. and .300 Win. Mag..

Due to the streamlined design, the bullet has a high BC value and is therefore particularly well suited for long ranges. Specially designed for competition and training, the GECO Target HP is optimized for accuracy and velocity thanks to a very precisely manufactured hollow point lead bullet with an aerodynamic boattail. Thanks to a balanced recoil behavior and smokeless powder, the GECO Target HP is particularly pleasant to shoot – ideal for long training sessions.

In view of the manufacturer's usual advantageous price-performance ratio and with a quantity of 50 cartridges per pack, the GECO Target HP is particularly suitable for shooting training.
