SHOT Show: New rifles for 2019

SHOT Show 2019 / Rifles: here's a selection of what we think is new and notable. Among very interesting and really new products and reissues of great classics, there's a bit for everyone. Long range, hard hitting and super accurate rifles are dominant, considering the interest for long range shooting. Daniel Defense, Barrett, Browning all introduce LR models; Colt shows off their Retro line but some rimfires, such as the Winchester Wildcat, are in our opinion highlights of the show!

This is the Barrett MRAD specifically submitted for the Advanced Sniper Rifle (ASR) of the US Special Operations Command. Barrett recently won an award to supply this rifle, chambered in the powerful .300 PRC caliber to the US Government.

Colt Retro rifle model at SHOT Show 2019

Colt surprises with a host of ancient models, but newly manufactured: the venerable M16A1, XM177E2 and more, reissued in a civilian compliant configuration. The Colt Retro models are not going to be cheap, with prices starting at 2499 US$, but these are real Colts.

The Colt Retro reissues are semiauto only, with slight mods to make then abslolutely civilian legal, i.e. 16" overall barrel length for the XM177, but are otherwise incredibly faithful to the originals, down to perfect markings. Collectors will be happy, we know we are!

Daniel Defense surprised us with its first Bolt Action, the long-range Delta 5 precision rifle, chambered in 6.5mm Creedmoor, 7mm-08 Rem and .308 Win.
Gamo Swarm Fusion 10x Gen2 air rifle

The new Gamo Swarm Fusion 10x Gen2 air rifle with 10-round magazine is an evolution of the previous Replay 10 Maxxim model. The magazine now tilts for loading when compressing the air, ans is normally parallel to the barrel, allowing the use of low-mounted optics.

The Savage Model 110 High Country Bolt Action rifle is designed for long range shooting. It's available in 11 calibers from .243 Win. up to .300 WSM. The rifle features a fluted bolt, fluted barrel and TrueTimber Strata synthetic stock with AccuFit system, an AccuTrigger, and is offered in two barrel lengths, 22" / 560 mm or 24"/ 610 mm.

Steyr Monobloc hunting rifle

Steyr showcased the Monobloc hunting rifle: the name refers to the fact that both barrel and action are built out of the same, single block of steel. The polymer stock houses an aluminum chassis and feature high grain leather panels. The barrel is 22" long; the trigger pack is removable. Available in calibers from .308 Win to 8x57 IS, the Monobloc will cost around 4600 Euro.

Based on the ubiquitous Ruger Model 10/22, the Performance Center T/CR 22 models feature either a polymer Hogue Overmolded thumbhole or an Altamont laminated thumbhole stock, as well as a heavy, 20"/508mm long, fluted stainless steel barrel with 1-15" twist. The T/CR 22 is also available with standard polymer stock with Realtree, Mossy Oak or Olive Drab finish.

Winchester Wildcat rifle

Also vaguely similar to the 10/22, the Winchester Wildcat is a complete surprise: it is a state-of-the-art, modular semi-automatic rimfire rifle, which was one of the technical highlights for us at the show. The Wildcat uses a blowback action with an 18"/457 mm barrel. The twist rate is 1:16".

The really special and unique thing about the compact, lightweight Winchester Wildcat rifle is that you can easily remove the lower receiver assembly, consisting of the action and the trigger group, from the upper receiver. The 10 round rotary magazine is compatible with aftermarket magazines made for the 10/22.
