Knives at the SHOT Show 2020

Knives are fascinating tools. But in recent years, laws on carrying knives that can be opened with one hand have been tightened in many countries. So in 2020, slip joint knives that were almost forgotten until a few years ago are back in fashion. But we should not be surprised by these ebbs and flows that also affect the world of firearms. Ten years ago, who would have bet that virtually all modern pistols would be striker fired?

The small Camillus LK6 folding knife features a 420 stainless steel blade with a "Titanium bonded" treatment, that is a deep titanium nitriding. The blade is 2.5”/ 63 mm long for a total length of 6”/ 152 mm. Handle is G10.

The CRKT M40-02 is the evolution of an original design by Kit Carson, to which the Deadbolt locking mechanism and the ball bearing pivot system designed by Flavio Ikoma have been added.

Small, basic knives with no locking system are coming back into fashion, also because locking knives are now forbidden in several countries. Here is the FOX Nauta (“sailor”, in Latin) a simple but very well made EDC knife, inspired by a model that FOX supplied to the German Navy some years ago.

The Lion Steel Thrill is available with anodized handles in different colors. The Thrill is equipped with the patented Lion Steel HWAIL system that allows to retract the clip inside the handle, so it can be used at owner's discretion.

Another Italian knife, still with a simple spring locking system. It's called Thrill and is manufactured by Lion Steel. The one-piece handle is titanium, the M390 steel blade is 3.14”/ 80 mm long with satin finish and smooth edge.

In 2020 Maserin turned 60 years old and decided to celebrate with the "Sessantesimo" a double-blade locking knife inspired by the first models produced by Fervido Maserin.

Puma's "knife of the year" is a new version of the Skinner model, with a 5”/ 129 mm long and 1.13”/ 3.5 mm thick  skinning blade. The bolster is polished aluminum, the handle is rosewood featuring the Solingen company's gold medallion.

The "White Hunter" model is one of the great classics by Puma. At the SHOT Show the Solingen company presented an even more "African" version featuring an oryx horn handle. Dimensions are classic: 6.1”/155 mm long and 0.19”/ 5 mm thick blade, a total length of 10.6”/ 270 mm characterized by absolute ruggedness.
