FNH USA, LLC. − the North-American banch of the Belgian FN Herstal S.A. group − announced last December 3rd the release of the FNX-45, a double-action/single-action hammer-driven pistol with highly enhanced ergonomics. This handgun is the latest addition to the company’s ever-popular FNX line of autoloading pistols and is made in Columbia (South Carolina) by FN Manufacturing, Inc. As of today, initial shipments are en route to dealers nationwide. Distribution on foreign markets should instead start by January 2013.

Spawning after years of innovative product development and advanced engineering techniques, the FNX-45 is a SA/DA hammer-driven pistol with highly enhanced ergonomics. Its manual safety/decocking levers, slide stop levers and magazine release buttons are all fully ambidextrous for ease of operation with either hand and from any firing position. Both the slide and barrel are stainless steel. The FNX-45’s checkered polymer frame has multiple interchangeable backstraps with lanyard eyelets. A MIL-STD 1913 mounting rail on the underside accepts tactical lights and lasers.
The FNX-45 is fully ambidextrous and is available in matte black with a stainless steel barrel or flat dark earth with a matte black barrel. Both slides and barrels are stainless steel. It comes with a 15-round magazine and multiple interchangeable backstraps with lanyard eyelet and a MIL-STD 1913 mounting rail on the underside accepts tactical lights and lasers. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) is $809.00 for the U.S. market; pricing for international markets has yet to be announced.
The FNX-45 line includes a standard version and a “Tactical” variant featuring high-profile sights and a threaded barrel that will quickly accept sound suppressors. A compact version for concealed carry and a compensated model for competition will also be made available in 2013. The FNX-45 pistol will make its public debut at the 2013 SHOT Show, next January 15-18 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas (NV).
